Kiwanis International works to improve the lives of children one community at a time. The local Charlotte club hosts their biggest fundraiser at the end of the summer every year, an outdoor event where guests can purchase BBQ plates and enjoy live music. Funds from the event go towards club projects throughout the year, including enabling inner city youths to attend Camp Grier in the summer.
The club wanted to target two groups: individual donors who would be interested in purchasing meal tickets for BBQ plates, and business donors who would sponsor the event.
I designed two flyers to advertise the event -- one to advertise the event and drive ticket-sales, and one to request sponsorship. The designs' typefaces, colors, and shapes are inspired by real bluegrass album covers, while the important messaging still respects the Kiwanis brand's blue and gold colors and clean serif type guides.

I also created social media graphics that they could use to promote the event on their Facebook page and website. Tasty images of BBQ fixin's entice viewers to buy tickets. Custom icons helped communicate key information about the event, such as the location and the Covid-safe drive-through protocols.

For the event day itself, I designed the sponsor thank you sheet as well as the physical tickets that participants used to purchase meals.
The fundraiser earned more than $20,000 in ticket sales and sponsor donations, a huge win for the Kiwanis Charlotte Club and the kids who benefit from their work.
