
For the last 15 years, UNC Charlotte has partnered with the American Red Cross to host 49ers4LIFE, an annual blood drive that is promoted across campus for months in advance. As the graphic designer for Business & Auxiliary Services, one of the drive's sponsors, I was tasked with creating promotional graphics for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 events.
For 2025's design, I wanted to create a design that was fun and would help make the idea of giving blood a little less scary.
Inspired by the blood drive's slogan, "Be a life saver!", I brainstormed various versions of cartoon bandaids and life guards before eventually landing on this cartoon droplet holding a floatation device.

A friendly, playful font and muted red and blue reinforce the character/ event's approachability.
I designed all promotional graphics for the event, including printed materials like flyers, yard signs, and bus shelter ads, as well as digital graphics for web, digital ads, social media, and email.
